2022 AFF U-16 Cup standings: Indonesia is stuck by Vietnam

Indonesia is in tight competition with Vietnam in the Group A standings of the 2022 AFF U-16 Cup. The two teams will fight for the top of the standings in the final group match.

The Indonesian U-16 national team had a party against Singapore in the second matchday of Group A of the 2022 AFF Cup. Competing at the Maguwuharjo Stadium, Sleman, Wednesday (3/8/2022) night WIB, Garuda Asia won 9-0.

Nabil Asyura became the star with three goals, followed by Kafiatur Rizky who recorded a brace. The other four Indonesian goals were contributed by Hanif Ramadhan, Riski Afrisal, Waliy Marifat (penalty), and I Komang Ananta Krisna.

This is Indonesia’s second win in the 2022 AFF U-16 Cup. Bima Sakti’s squad previously defeated the Philippines 2-0.

The Indonesian U-16 national team is now at the top of Group A with six points. Garuda Asia was followed by Vietnam who had the same points in two matches.

Just like Indonesia, Vietnam managed to win two victories. The Golden Star won 5-1 over Singapore, and 5-0 over the Philippines.

Indonesia and Vietnam will fight for the title of Group A winner in the third match, Saturday (6/8). The winner of this match is certain to lock the ticket to the semifinals of the 2022 AFF U-16 Cup.

However, Indonesia will still qualify as group winners if they are able to hold Vietnam to a draw. Nabil Asyura et al excel in goal productivity over Nguyen Huru Trong cs (11 versus 9).

1. Indonesia: 6 points (+11 goal productivity)
2. Vietnam: 6 points (goal productivity +9)
3. Philippines: 0 points (goal productivity -7)
4. Singapore 0 points (goal productivity -13).
