1. JC Mönchengladbach ends the season in second place

The women’s team of the 1st JC Mönchengladbach would have liked to be promoted from the Judo NRW league. On the last day of the fight, there was a decisive duel with PSV Herford – with the worse outcome for 1. JC.

On the last day of judo fighting in the NRW league, the women of 1. JC Mönchengladbach narrowly missed out on the title and promotion after a 3:4 defeat against PSV Herford and a 4:3 win against PSV Bochum. The team finishes the season in second place. Jana Schmitz (-52 kg) only had to admit defeat against PSV Herford, who had equal points up to that point, in a close encounter with last year’s German vice-champion in the golden-score overtime.

Since Emilia Meffert (-57 kg) also remained without a win and the weight class over 78 kg was not occupied, Herford pulled away 3-0. Julia Malcharek (-70 kg) and Lisa Hiller (-63 kg) were able to catch up with their victories, but the defeat of Leonie Grabowski (-78 kg) sealed the Herford victory. With the point without a fight by Emma Schreiber (-48 kg) you could only reduce the final score to 3:4. Since Herford then also defeated PSV Bochum, this meant Herford won the league.

In the second encounter against Bochum, Jana Schmitz and Emilia Meffert started with sovereign victories before they gave up the weight class over 78 kilograms again without a fight. With her second win of the day, Julia Malcharek made it 3-0 before Lisa Hiller and Leonie Grabowski had to admit defeat. Emma Schreiber’s renewed victory without a fight ensured the final score of 4:3.
