World Games: Historic! Mexico signs its best performance

Officially the sporting event of the World Games Birmingham 2022 and the Mexican delegation sealed its best historical participation.

The Mexican athletes will thus go down in the history of national sport by saying goodbye to this fair with a harvest of 12 medals, of which five were gold, two silver and five bronze.

They exceeded expectations and what was done by Mexico In the most recent editions of the World Gamesbecause in the last edition in Wroclaw 2017 they won a gold, a silver and three bronzes; while in Cali 2013 they had won three gold medals, one silver and three bronze medals.

The Mexican delegation thus finished in sixteenth place in the medal table in this edition of Birmingham 2022being the second best country in Latin Americajust behind Colombia which finished in ninth place with nine golds, 10 silvers and six bronzes.

Among the positions of maximum honor were two Jalisco who hung the gold in their respective sports disciplines. Miguel Becerra did it in compound archery and Jorge Martínez in roller skating.

Likewise, Paola Longoria showed why she is the queen of racquetball by hanging the gold medal for Mexico; while David Martínez He did the same when he was crowned champion in kick boxing.

The fifth and last gold medal for Mexico came from the women’s flag football team, who swept the tournament. They crushed 39-6 to USA in the Final, thus ending with six wins where they scored 241 points and received only 38.
