End of course for Richard Gasquet at Wimbledon. The Frenchman was beaten in the third round of the London Grand Slam by the 25th player in the world, Botic Van De Zandschulp, in four sets (7-5, 2-6, 7-6 [7]6-1).

Gasquet did not go the distance

For his third round return to the English turf for the first time since 2016, the 36-year-old southpaw struggled for a long time against the recent semi-finalist of the Queen’s tournament before collapsing in the last round.

The Biterrois had however reacted well after the loss of a hung first set, winning the second round in half an hour. The turning point of the match finally came in the tie-break of the third set, when the Dutchman prevailed nine points to seven.
