Los White Sox de Chicago from Major League Baseball announced on Monday afternoon that they canceled fireworks celebration for the 4th of July and observe a minute of silence before the game against the Minnesota Twins as a show of respect for the victims of the shooting in Highland Park.
“Our hearts go out to the Highland Park community. The entire organization of the Chicago White Sox expresses our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the innocent victims of today’s horrific shooting and to all those who have been affected by this tragedy,” read the statement shared by the team.
According to reports about the tragedy, a male between 18 and 20 years old opened fire during the United States Independence Day parade held in a place in the city of Illinois, Chicago.
So far, 6 people have been reported dead and 30 injured.
