what does the preparation look like?

Ajax officially started preparing for the new season on Thursday (June 23). During this preparation, the team from Amsterdam will go to a training camp in De Lutte and Austria. In addition, the team of trainer Alfred Schreuder also plays a few practice matches. In the overview below you can see the (provisional) program of the preparation.

Thursday 23 June

Ajax will officially start preparing for the new season on this day. The players present undergo some tests. Trainer Schreuder still has to do without the internationals. They are currently enjoying their holiday

Friday 24 June

Ajax will resume group training on Friday 24 June. On this day, Schreuder has his first field training. The coach still misses his internationals on this day.

Monday 27 June – Sunday 3 July

On Monday 27 June Ajax will travel to De Lutte according to tradition for the first training camp in preparation. Trainer Schreuder will have to miss his internationals during this training camp. For the young talents, this training camp is the chance to show themselves to the new trainer.

Tuesday 28 June

On Tuesday 28 June, Ajax’s first practice match is on the agenda in preparation. The team from Amsterdam then plays in Oldenzaal against SV Meppen, which plays at the third level in Germany. The duel between Ajax and the Germans starts at 6 p.m.

Saturday 2 July

The second practice match of the training camp in De Lutte is scheduled for Saturday 2 July. Ajax will then play against SC Paderborn at 1 p.m. That club plays at the second level of Germany. The match between Ajax and SC Paderborn will again take place in Oldenzaal.

Saturday July 9th

After a week of training in Amsterdam, Ajax will play a closed practice match on Saturday 9 July. The opponent of that day is NK Lokomotiva Zagreb, the number two of the Croatian league last season. The game – which will be broadcasted by Ziggo Sport – starts at 2 p.m.

Friday 15 July

Just before Ajax leaves for Austria for a training camp, it plays a practice match against KAS Eupen. That club finished as number fifteen in the Belgian league last season. The duel with the Belgian club starts on Friday afternoon at 3.30 pm.

Sunday 17 – Saturday 23 July

On Sunday 17 July Ajax is preparing for the second training camp of the preparation. As in previous years, the Amsterdammers will also travel to Austria this year. The training camp in the Alpine country ends on Saturday 23 July.

Tuesday 19 July

On Tuesday 19 July Ajax will play an exhibition game with RB Salzburg in Saalfelden, Austria. It concerns the duel between the national champions of the Netherlands and Austria. The game starts at 6:30 PM.

Saturday 23 July

Ajax closes the training camp in Austria with a practice match against Eintracht Frankfurt. The duel with the winner of last season’s Europa League will be played in Stadion Grödig and starts at 3 p.m.

Wednesday 26 July

On Wednesday 26 July Ajax will play a benefit match against Shakhtar Donetsk. The match is in the context of the current situation in Ukraine. All proceeds from this benefit match go to various projects and organizations that provide aid to Ukrainian refugees and aid projects in Ukraine.

Saturday 30 July

On Saturday 30 July Ajax will play its first official match of the season. The team from Amsterdam will then officially kick off the season with the match against PSV for the Johan Cruijff Scale. This match starts at 8pm.

09-07-2022, 2:00 p.m.: Ajax – NK Lokomotiva Zagreb
15-07-2022, 3.30 pm: Ajax – KAS Eupen
19-07-2022, 18.30 uur: Red Bull Salzburg – Ajax
23-07-2022, 3 p.m.: Ajax – Eintracht Frankfurt
26-07-2022, 8 p.m.: Ajax – Shakhtar Donetsk
