Another Werder test match is canceled!

The game planned for Saturday (5 p.m.) in Delmenhorst against the Dutch first division team Groningen will not take place. Clemens Fritz, Werder’s head of professional football: “The authorities decided at short notice that we couldn’t let the game take place due to security concerns. Of course we are incredibly sorry for all the fans who wanted to see the team live again before the start of the competitive game. But our hands are tied.”

Werder test against Groningen canceled

Due to several major events and concerns about riots by Groningen fans traveling with them, the authorities decided to cancel the last endurance test before the start of the cup against Cottbus (1 August). Last was already the Test against Twente Enschede canceled before it could take place (without spectators).

The cancellation also postponed the start of the test against Groningen’s league rivals Emmen on Saturday. Werder will now play against the Dutch at 5 p.m. instead of 1 p.m. (12th place in the stadium) behind closed doors.
