Former Bundesliga coach Peter Neururer is leading the professional camp of the players’ union VDV for non-club football professionals again this year.
Around two dozen players have been training under professional conditions at the Wedau sports school since Monday to prepare for potential commitments. “Football is a team sport, and it also needs team training and team spirit. We have a good mix of young and experienced players who now need to be brought together,” said Neururer, who is completing the units for the fifth time after 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021 times directs.
Together with his assistant coach Karsten Hutwelker, the 67-year-old would like to help the players “find their way back into a contractual situation as quickly as possible.”
Test match against KFC Uerdingen
The professionals without a club are accommodated in the sports school at the expense of the players’ union. The program also includes a trip to Austria with a comparison of countries against the selection of the Austrian players’ union VdF. Further friendlies are also planned, for example against the former DFB Cup winners KFC Uerdingen.
Off the field, the pros also receive medical and sports science support and receive advice from experts on topics such as labor law, career coaching and transfer law.
80 percent success rate
According to the VDV, the success rate is 80 percent for players to get back into a contractual relationship. The participants include Florian Riedel, who last played for the third division club TSV Havelse, or the former Darmstadt 98 professional, Adrian Stanilewicz. Further registrations are possible.
