The Vietnam U-19 national team received criticism from Indonesian netizens after a 1-1 draw against Thailand in the last match of Group A of the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup at the Madya Stadium, Senayan, Sunday (10/7).
Vietnam, together with the Thailand U-19 national team, were accused of not acting fair play. This was seen when both teams were reluctant to attack after the 1-1 draw in the 77th minute.
The Vietnamese players mostly pass in their own defense, while Thailand is reluctant to win the ball. Once they got the ball, the Thai players then sent a high pass without any players chasing the ball.
Surprisingly, Dinh The Nam did not mind the appearance of the Vietnam U-19 national team players after the 77th minute. Din The Nam was not happy with Vietnam’s performance at the beginning of the first half against Thailand.
“This draw helped us qualify for the semifinals. But in terms of professional quality, I’m not really satisfied, especially in the first 20-25 minutes of the first half. My players entered the game with a nervous mentality, unable to control the game,” said Dinh The Nam.

Furthermore, Dinh The Nam believes that the nervous problems of the Vietnam U-19 national team will disappear when appearing in the semifinals of the AFF U-19 2022 Cup.
“Playing in the semifinals will help the Vietnamese players get rid of the psychological pressure. It will help the team play more elegantly. Playing after three days off is also good for the team. It doesn’t matter who we play in the semifinals, we will have a plan to play Laos or Malaysia , said Dinh The Nam.
