The 42-year-old Spanish champion was hit on the streets of Murcia and rushed to hospital
Alejandro Valverde, the 42-year-old Spanish champion who is in his final season as a pro, was run over today while training in Alcantarilla, on his streets in Murcia, southeastern Spain. Valverde was with two regular hangouts when he was hit by a car.
The 2018 world champion, symbol of the Movistar team, was taken by ambulance to the Virgen de la Arrixaca university hospital in Murcia, but at the moment there are no fractures or other injuries. However, he will remain hospitalized for 24 hours for observation.
The driver who hit the three riders did not stop to help them and ran away.
