USA, Brazil and Peru win Panama Youth Badminton

In the event, which has the support of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism, as well as the Dominican Olympic Committee, athletes from 17 nations participate

The teams of USA, Brazil and Peru they started in style in the thirtieth Pan American Youth Badminton Championshipwhich opened yesterday at the facilities of the Parque del Este Table Tennis Pavilion.

The event is supported by the Dominican Olympic Committee and the Ministries of Tourism and Sports.

At the beginning of the first stage of the tournament organized by the Dominican Badminton Federation (Fedobad), which is played by teams, in group “A”, the Americans won 5-0 against their counterpart from Mexico, while in the group “B” the Brazilians comfortably won (5-0) against El Salvador, as well as the Peruvians against the Dominican Republic team.

During the opening ceremony, the president of the Pan American Badminton Confederation, Jamaican Vishu Tolan, thanked Fedobad for staging the event.

“For us it is more than an honor and a great satisfaction that the Dominican Republic is the venue for this great commitment, in which our main youth players on the continent are participating,” said Tolan, who thanked the state entities for their support of the event.

At the event, the Deputy Minister of Promotion and Development of the Ministry of Tourism, Tammy Reynoso, representing Minister David Collado, stated that said portfolio is always available to collaborate with activities that represent healthy fun.

On his side, the president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Antonio Acosta, assured that without the support of the Government it would be very difficult to mount international events like this one in the Dominican Republic.
