UEFA investigation after pro-Putin chants during Fenerbahçe-Dynamo Kyiv

LE SCAN SPORT – UEFA has opened an investigation after the chants heard in the stands of the Fenerbahçe stadium during the match against Ukrainian Dynamo kyiv.

Dynamo kyiv snatched its ticket for the rest of the Champions League by winning on Fenerbahçe’s lawn on Wednesday (0-0, 1-2). The meeting had caused an outcry because of the songs heard in the stands to the glory of Vladimir Putin, the Russian head of state, in the midst of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The chants reportedly came after Vitaliy Buyalskyi’s goal celebration opened the scoring by the visitors just before the hour mark.

UEFA have announced that an investigation will be carried out into these incidents. The alleged misbehavior of Fenerbahçe supporters could be punished. After the meeting, the Turkish club insisted on dissociating itself from the behavior of some of its supporters, assuring that they “did not represent the position or values ​​of the club.»

The Ukrainian ambassador to Turkey had deplored these events, expressing his “sadnessin a written message on social networks. “It is very sad to hear the words of support from Fenerbahçe fans, in favor of the Russian murderer and aggressor who is bombarding our country. I am grateful to my fellow Turkish citizens for their support for Ukraine and for their consideration in the face of inappropriate actions by fans“said Vasyl Bodnar.
