“Today I have to say goodbye to this year’s main goal,” Matxin writes. “After an internal check of the team, it appears that I am infected with the corona virus. I believe in my boys to death, the Tour is not over yet.”
Matxin is one of the team leaders of Tadej Pogacar, two-time Tour winner. The Slovenian was hit on the Col du Granon yesterday, but still believes in a hat-trick. “I’m going to attack,” he said before the start of stage 12.
