Tiraspol drew in the first match with Maribor, Vaclík conceded in the set-up

A goal was not scored even in Lodz, Poland, where Dynamo Kyiv played a home duel against Fenerbahce due to the conflict in Ukraine. Defender Filip Novák remained only on the bench of the Turkish team. The loser of this double-header will be Slovácko’s opponent in the 3rd preliminary round of the European League.

Last year’s Champions League basic group participant Tiraspol outshot home team Maribor 9:1, but unlike Pilsen’s opening match against HJK Helsinki (2:1), no goal was scored. Rematches are scheduled for next week. If Viktoria and Helsinki are eliminated, they will meet an unsuccessful team from the same pair in the 3rd preliminary round of the Europa League.

Olympiakos did not have a very successful preparation, in which they also played against Slavia Prague (1:1), but in the first competitive match of the season it looked like their success for a long time. The Greek champion took the lead from the seventh minute after Zinckernagel’s strike, but in the second minute of regulation, Haziza kicked the ball with his back to the goal on a volley and overturned all the players in the penalty area, including Vaclík.

Slovan Bratislava, with Czech defender Jurij Medvedev in the lineup, showed a turnaround at Ferencváros Budapest. Zachariassen put the home side in the lead, but in the 81st and 86th minutes, Kashij and Barsegjan turned the game around.

The opening match of the 2nd preliminary round of the Champions League:
Master part:
Maccabi Haifa – Olympiakos Piraeus 1:1 (0:1),
Ferencváros Budapest – Slovan Bratislava 1:2 (0:0)
Maribor – Sheriff Tiraspol 0:0.
Non-championship part:
Dynamo Kyiv – Fenerbahce Istanbul 0:0.
