There are 2 places left for the second round.

Group A: Cape Verde, Nigeria and Uganda in 2nd tour

The history of bonuses and other internal issues within the Federation led to the disqualification of the Mali national team. The Eagles have, in fact, recorded a second forfeit this Saturday against Nigeria, synonymous with disqualification in the race for the 2023 World Cup.

As a result, Cape Verde, Nigeria and Uganda qualify for the second round of playoffs. This Saturday, Cape Verde (7 pts) consolidated its leading position by beating Uganda (87-78). Nigeria (4 pts +9) and Uganda (4 pts -32) meet this Sunday for the 2th Group A spot.

Group B: Rwanda plays its survival against Tunisia

Rwanda signed its first victory in these 2023 World Cup qualifiers by beating Cameroon (59-57) this Saturday. The Rwandans were leading at the break (34-15) but they were unable to keep this big lead.

Cameroonians (6 pts -16) are 3thwhile the Rwandans (6 pts -41) point to the 4th place.

This Sunday, Cameroon will meet South Sudan, while Rwanda will challenge Tunisia. The Rwandan team must win and count on a defeat by Cameroon to qualify for the second round.

South Sudan recorded its 5th rank success ahead of Tunisia (75-61). The South Sudanese (10 pts) will finish as leaders of the group regardless of the result of the match against Cameroon.

Group C: remote duel Guinea – Central African Republic

Guinea and the Central African Republic are fighting for the last qualifying ticket in this group. The Guineans were beaten by the Angolans (65-85). But they remain however at the 3th place because the Central African Republic lost to Côte d’Ivoire (63-73).

This Sunday, Guinea will meet Côte d’Ivoire, while the Central African Republic will face Angola. Guineans and Central Africans must in no case lose. The loser will be eliminated from these playoffs.

Côte d’Ivoire (10 pts) and Angola (8 pts) have qualified for the second round of the 2023 World Cup qualifiers. The Ivorians are guaranteed to finish at the top of the group.

Group D: Leopards sink Lions

The Senegalese have not recovered from their defeat against Egypt (43-76) on Friday. They again lowered their flag to DR Congo (60-72). The Lions (7 pts) are 3th and jeopardize their chance to qualify for the 2023 World Cup. They will have to take at least 10 of the 12 points over the windows of August 2022 and February 2023. But it will not be easy against South Sudan, Tunisia, Cameroon or the Rwanda. DR Congo (9 pts +26) holds its 2th place and will cross Egypt this Sunday (1is, 9 pts +113). This will be the “final” of the 1time square. The Senegalese team will try to revive against Kenya, already eliminated.
