The Reds Fall 0-3 at Home

Liverpool

Liverpool ended the pre-season session with disappointing results. Facing Strasbourg at Anfield, the Reds lost three goals without reply.

Liverpool’s last match to prepare for the 2022/2023 season was held on Monday (1/8/2022) early morning WIB, or one day after the victory over Manchester City in the Community Shield.

Liverpool kept most of their core players and left only Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, Nathaniel Phillips, Fabio Carvalho and James MIlner.

Without their flagship player, Liverpool struggled to keep up with Strasbourg’s game and conceded in the fourth minute thanks to Adrien Thomasson’s goal. Thomasson got Marvin Senaya’s pass and fired hard into the goal of Harvey Davies.

That goal made Liverpool dare to go out to attack the Strasbourg defense. Carvalho got one chance in the 12th minute but his shot went sideways.

Strasbourg added to Liverpool’s suffering when they conceded in the 13th minute through Habib Diallo. Diallo got Ludovic Ajorque’s cross to finish with a kick into the bottom left corner.

Goal! Davies’ goal fell again after Thomasson listed his name on the scoreboard in the 21st minute. A through ball was given to Thomasson before he shot hard into the net.

After being left behind by three goals in the first half, Liverpool tried to increase the intensity of the attack in order to score goals as soon as possible. Unfortunately, Liverpool still struggle to score goals.

There was one chance made by Harvey Elliott through a header in the 77th minute. Elliott headed the ball from his partner but it was parried by Matz Sels. Sels can also stem Milner’s hard kick in the 86th minute.

Until the game ended, the 3-0 score lasted for Strasbourg’s victory, as well as giving Liverpool their third defeat in this pre-season session. Liverpool were previously beaten by Manchester United and Red Bull Salzburg.

Liverpool will prepare to face Fulham on the opening weekend of the 2022/2023 Premier League.
