The lineup of Tallinn “Kalev”/”Cramo” is supplemented by another Latvian

On Friday, Tallinners announced that they have signed a contract with center player Mārtiņas Meier.

For 24-year-old Raimo, the next season will be the third season in his professional career, in the first two short years of which he represented Liepāja. In the past season, the basketball player in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League scored an average of 11.4 points in 30 minutes in 25 matches, won 8.7 rebounds, gave 3.1 assists and intercepted 1.9 balls.

Last year, after graduating from college, Raimo joined the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) team “Pieno Žvaigzdes” of Pasvāle, where he played eight games and then joined the Liepaja team.

Before that, Raimo spent four seasons in North America, where he played in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), representing the “Rainbow Warriors” team, in parallel with his financial studies at the University of Hawaii.

Before leaving for North America, Raimo was recognized as the best graduate of the 2015/2016 Latvian Youth Basketball League (LJBL).

Raimo started playing basketball in Madona under coach Agnis Beķeras, continued at “VEF school” under Jānis Gailīš and Raimonds Feldmanis, but in his last season he made his debut in his homeland in the Latvian Basketball League (LBL) championship in the “VEF Rīga” and “University of Latvia” teams, and also became for the LJBL champion in the U-19 group.

Raimo has represented Latvia in European youth championships of all age groups.

In the previous season, the Tallinners settled for the bronze medals of the Estonian championship, but did not make it past the quarter-finals in the Latvian-Estonian league. In June, the team and head coach Roberts Stelmacher parted ways, but on Friday the club thanked Ojārs Siliņš, Mārcs Vītols and assistant coach Aksel Vairogas for their cooperation.
