The Gurriel brothers were in a stellar plan this Friday in the Major Leagues. So much Yulieski as Lourdes they knocked the ball out of the park to contribute greatly to the victories of the Houston Astros and Toronto Blue Jays, respectively.
Starting with the older brother, Yuli went 1-for-3 against the Los Angeles Angels, but that hit was his seventh home run of the year. His entire home run served to produce the first run for the Astros in the 8 × 1 win. He also drove in one run (22), scored twice and took one walk (.227). This was his fourth long drive in his last 14 games.
The particular thing about that homer was where he connected the ball, because it was not an easy pitch at all. Starting pitcher Michael Lorenzen threw a 95.4 mph sinker at him, inside and at knee height. Similarly, the Cuban first baseman responded with a quick swing and sent it to the farthest part of left field.
According to Baseball Savant, only one other home run has been hit off a pitch in the same location this season. The unique thing about this home run, connected by Joey Bart, is that he went before a meek ball thrown by the “pitcher” Albert Pujols, on May 15…
As for her younger brother, Lourdes had a perfect night in the Blue Jays’ 9×2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Yunito, who was only missing the triple for the ladder, hit a single, his twentieth double of the season and his fifth home run in three legal at-bats with the wood. The outfielder built a run (34), scored three times and took a walk (.292).
Gurriel Jr. has at least one hit in 10 of his last 11 games, a span in which he has five doubles and two homers. As a sign of the great moment that the islander is experiencing, his average began June at .240 and now stands at .292 after the first game in July (52 points higher).
SECOND WITH 50
Jose Adolis Garcia He became the second Cuban with 50 RBIs this Major League season, driving in a run in the 4×3 loss suffered by the Texas Rangers against the New York Mets.
García went 0-for-4 (255), with a strikeout included, although with a ground ball he drove in the last run for the Texans. The negative is that he snapped his 11-game streak with at least one hit.
Moving on to the game that the Baltimore Orioles lost 3×2 to the Minnesota Twins, Cionel Perez had another dominant performance. This time he pitched a perfect 1.1 innings to lower his ERA from 1.14 to 1.08. The left-hander retired Max Kepler, Jorge Polanco and Jose Miranda in the seventh, plus Alex Kirillof to start the eighth inning.
This is how it went for the rest of the Cubans who saw action this Friday in the Major Leagues:

Jose Iglesias (Colorado Rockies) was 1-for-4 and scored one run (.296).
Yandy Diaz (Tampa Bay Rays), 4-1 (.271). Another that connected an indisputable was Joseph Abreu (Chicago White Sox), while going 3-1 with a walk (.284). Also for Chicago louis robert missed his four valid chances, with two strikeouts (.290), while Yoan Moncada he went 0-for-4 with one strikeout (.176).
Finally, William Heredia (Atlanta Braves) was retired on his only trip to boxing (.127).

Johan Oviedo (St. Louis Cardinals) pitched 0.2 innings against the Philadelphia Phillies and gave up a solo home run by Rhys Hoskins. He also walked and parked his ERA at 3.63.
