The Copa del Rey de Tenis once again has the support of the Palos de la Frontera City Council (Huelva)

The mayor of Palos de la Frontera, Carmelo Romero, and the president of the Royal Tennis Club of Huelva, Federico Sánchez de la Campa have signed the collaboration between both entities for the celebration of the 97th edition of the Copa del Rey de Tenis.

According to the club in a press release, during the signing Romero was “delighted to collaborate with the Huelva tennis club”, an institution that, as he pointed out, “gives prestige to the entire province and that can be proud of her work.”

Likewise, Romero has announced that the club will continue to count on the City Council in future editions to “advance this event and continue to be a benchmark in tennis.”

For his part, Sánchez de la Campa thanked “the role of the sponsors”, which allows “to have one of the best editions of the last 20 or 30 years”, since he has expressed his desire that “this collaboration continue for years to come.”

The Copa del Rey, which has been held since 1912 and which this year reaches its 97th edition, will take place on July 7 and 8 and will bring together the revelation tennis player of the year, Carlos Alcaraz, together with Pablo Carreño, Pedro Martínez and Carlos Gimeno.

In addition, as Sánchez de la Campa explained during the presentation of this edition “this year there will be some novelties”. On the one hand, it is played on track two to increase the capacity above 3,000 people. In addition, for the first time, the winner will win a replica of the Cup and the gold medal of the cup has been created, which Emilio Sánchez Vicario will receive, since it marked a turning point in the tournament and he is the tennis player who has won the most has led the victory, with six.
