The qualification for the second part of the preliminary rounds towards the World Cup was actually a formality for the Belgian Lions.
Slovakia was not allowed to put a problem at the bottom and the difference with the Lions was even greater than in the first meeting over there.
The result: outright punishment. The Lions – without any strongholds – were on hand from the first second and an eager Obasohan (18 points) took the Belgians by the hand.
The 12 players all appeared on the scoreboard, a boost towards Sunday’s last match in Serbia.
That is not just a mandatory number, because the results against Serbia and Latvia are taken to the next preliminary round. Greece, Turkey and Great Britain normally wait in it.
Belgium-Slovakia: 102-59
Quarters: 25-7, 31-22, 27-12, 19-18
