There is no rest in the flight of the Albatross, which last weekend presented two of its young members to a national event. These are Marcos Romero and Mateo Higueras, who traveled to the Municipal Sports Pavilion Wssell de Guimbarda, in the Murcian town of Cartagena, to play a TOP TTR Tournament, scoring for the national Badminton ranking.
They competed in the Men’s Sub15 Individual category and in the Men’s Doubles category, as well as in the Sub15 category. The number of athletes decreases a bit in summer, not only in the Albatros, but in all the Clubs in general. In the Sub15 Men’s Individual modality, both Marcos and Mateo left everything on the track, although they could not pass the group stage, since all the other participants were ahead of them in the national ranking, however they fought for all the points until the end, taking three of the six games played to the third set, with some deciding in favor and others against.
In men’s doubles under 15 they were second in their elimination group, after giving their faces at all times, 21-15 and 21-13, for reaching the first place in their group, with the eventual champions of this TOP TTR Tournament. However, second place in their group carried them through to the semifinals, where they fell gracefully, 21-15 and 21-17, thus occupying the third place in the Men’s Sub15 Doubles Tournament.
Another new experience for these two youngsters, having scored quite a few points for the national ranking, which without a doubt, together with their teammates Samuel, Ángel and Jimena who on this occasion could not travel to compete due to the summer dates, will reach heights higher, because we must not forget that for the five of them it is their first year U15, that is, they are the “youngest” of the category.
