Simona Halep smashes Paula Badosa in Wimbledon Round of 16

There was no shock on Center Court on Monday between Simona Halep and Paula Badosa. Winner of the tournament in 2019, the Romanian qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2022 edition by easily winning against the Spaniard (6-1-6-2), whom she had already beaten on a similar score in Madrid (6-3, 6-1).

In an early game where both players made a few mistakes, Simona Halep struck first, breaking in the third game on a superb cross backhand passing. Quickly put under pressure, Paula Badosa multiplied the unforced errors (12 in the first set alone) without managing to find a solution to stop suffering the lightning forehands of her opponent.

Halep to experience

Varying wonderfully the service zones then practicing the “windshield wiper” to overflow his vis-à-vis between the end of the first set and the start of the second, Halep used all his experience to send a Badosa that was far too crumbly . If the 4th player in the world offered herself a reprieve by saving two break points in the fourth game of the second set, she continued to be dominated in the exchange, finally yielding on a last forehand fault.
