Handball player Estavana Polman remains active in the Danish league. The Orange international has signed a one-year contract with Nykøbing Falster.

On Saturday it was announced that the 29-year-old Polman’s contract with Team Esbjerg had been dissolved. She played for the club for nine years and was its all-time leading scorer. Polman was at odds with the club management for some time and had to train separately from the first team in recent months.

Polman’s new club finished fifth in the strong Danish league last season. Esbjerg took second place.

Polman has to help young players

Nykøbing head coach Jakob Larsen is happy with Polman’s arrival. “Estavana has great insight and shooting power and together with her creativity we can add new dimensions to our attacking game. At the same time, with her many years of experience, she will also be able to contribute to the further development of our young players.”

Polman, who has a relationship with former football player Rafael van der Vaart, spoke highly of her new club. “NFH is a club I’ve always wanted to play for. I like the atmosphere here.” In Nykøbing she will be teammate of Nikita van der Vliet, her teammate at Orange.
