Setting up an Olympic team for the YOG

In view of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, the Senegalese Golf Federation will set up an Olympic team in a few days. It is the second vice-president of the governing body of the discipline, Sidy Guèye who gave the information, this Saturday, on the sidelines of the award ceremony for the best golfers of the season.

A selection of young practitioners of the discipline, aged 12 to 15, will be made after the Tabaski to compose a team of 20 golfers from the clubs of Almadies, Technopole, Saly and Cap Skirring. Each formation will have five representatives. After detection, the young people who will be selected will be trained before a final selection to determine those who will participate in the YOG Dakar 2026.

”We ask parents to authorize their children for this selection. Our objective is to build a competitive team capable of making an honorable participation in the next Yog”, said Sidy Guèye.

The Federation also proceeded to award the best golfers of the season. Thus, Matalibe Diop, champion among the Pros with 58 points, received an envelope of one million F CFA.

Sala Faye was crowned champion with 68 points with the Cadis. He is followed by Daba Sene (62 points) and Abdoul Kane (44 points). The first series was won by Léonard Philip (58 points), the second by Kamil Rahal (40 points) and the third by Mimi Rahal (48 points).
