sells an additional 15% of its television rights

The Barcelona Soccer Club has made public this Friday that it has reached an agreement with the investment company ‘Sixth Street’ for the sale of an additional 15% of its television rights. An operation that will report to the Catalan club, immediately, some €400 million. A new ‘lever’, as they have been called from the culé directive, to provide themselves with funds to continue active in a transfer market in which he is being one of the great entertainers.

En total, ‘Sixth Street’ keeps 25% of the television rights of the Barça club for the next 25 years, as it has previously agreed to acquire 10% of them. An operation that required the support of the partners of the Catalan entity, consulted at the Extraordinary General Assembly last June.

“We continue to advance in our strategy and we are delighted to have completed this additional agreement with ‘Sixth Street’ which provides us with a significant increase in our financial strength”, explained Joan Laporta.

“Over the last few weeks, we and ‘Sixth Street’ have engaged and collaborated with a shared understanding of what we seek to achieve for our organization, and we look forward to a great long-term collaboration agreement,” the Barca president added.

“Barcelona is one of the world’s leading sporting organizations, and we are delighted to expand our relationship through this additional investment,” said Alan Waxman, co-founder and CEO of Sixth Street. “Our flexibility and cross-platform expertise continue to be of value to management teams as they seek to execute highly strategic initiatives.”

With the money that Barcelona will enter its coffers, which carries a significant financial debt, could undertake new signings after those of Raphinha or Lewandowskisuch as that of the Seville center-back Jules Kounde, wanted for a long time.
