Third renewal at Pucela Basket. After tying up captain Sergio de la Fuente and Estonian Jaan Puidet, Paco García’s team ensures the presence of Melwin Pantzar for another season. Slow but sure steps are being taken by Real Valladolid Basketball, which has chosen to start the house from the foundations before attacking the rest of the structure.

In this way, he already has a base (Pantzar), a versatile escort now called a combo (Puidet) and a power forward capable of playing near and far from the hoop (Sergio de la Fuente.

The renewal with the Swedish base trained in the Real Madrid youth academy has not been easy, not because of the player’s position but because of the numerous teams that tried to take over his services. Some, in the case of Murcia from the ACB League, had pushed in recent times to reinforce his squad in view of the fact that he will play European competition next season. Other leading LEB Oro clubs had also been interested in him to reinforce his squads. Hence, the club has had to make a significant effort to improve his conditions and tie his permanence.

Melwin Pantzar (Stockholm, 2000), like Puidet, will celebrate his third season at Pisuerga: in the first he averaged 7.3 points, 2.4 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.9 recoveries with an average rating of 9.7; and in 2021-22 he made 8.8 points per game in the regular league, in addition to 3.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 recoveries (valuation of 12.5). In total he has played 66 games.

In recent days he has played the first qualifying phase for the 2023 World Cup with Sweden and after achieving the pass, in August he will play a second round together with Finland and Doncic’s Slovenia.

Happy to be still in his ‘home’

Melwin Pantzar will continue a third season at UEMC Real Valladolid Baloncesto, his home, and he will do so with satisfaction due to the continuity and excitement: «I am very happy to renew with Real Valladolid Baloncesto, my home, because it is a place where everything The world has believed in me from day one. The fans, the club and everyone have treated me like family. It’s been a great two years and I hope this third year will be one of the best. I’m happy, thanks to the fans for supporting me, sending me their love and writing to me. I’m excited about this course.”

For his part, Paco García, coach of Pucela Basket, has also valued his presence in the team for the 2022-23 academic year: «From the sports management and the technical area we have always been very clear that Melwin Pantzar was the stone on which to start to build the team. He is called to be an important player in the main leagues, and of course in the ACB, and we know that it is a matter of time. We want to contribute so that when that moment arrives, he does it in the best possible conditions so that he is a relevant player in that category. We believe that he is at an age of formation, of consolidation of his game and we want to contribute to all of this turning him into the tremendous player that he is. That is why it is fantastic news for the fans, the team and the whole club that he is such an important piece that is already added to those of Jaan Puidet and Sergio de la Fuente.
