Radamel Falcao congratulated the Colombian Basketball Team for its historic victory against Brazil | Sports

Last Sunday, the Colombian Basketball Team made history at the Elías Chegwin Coliseum in Barranquilla, by defeating Brazil for the first time in history, in a dramatic match that was decided in the second overtime, by 104-98.

Those led by Guillermo Moreno achieved the miracle, as they were on the verge of being eliminated when the timer expired in the first extra time. Let’s remember that Brazil won 87-85 and there were 5.3 seconds left on the clock.

Juan Tello missed a free kick, but the ball fell into the hands of Braian Angola. The player from Villanueva fell short on his 3-pointer, but Michael Jackson was able to grab the ball and score it before the buzzer sounded, forcing another overtime.

In the second complementary period, the local team was better thanks to triples by Angola and Hansel Atencia. The game ended and the players emptied the benches to celebrate their qualification for the second phase of the Qualifiers for the 2023 World Cup, which will be played in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.

“Barranquilla is an incredible place. It was my first time here and I loved the people. I hope that for the next round this will continue to be the home of the National Team”, were the words of Angola. The number ’11’ of the National Team finished as one of the great figures of the game, with a balance of 20 points, ten rebounds and five assists.

The congratulations of other national athletes did not wait. The one that generated the most stir on social networks was that of Radamel Falcao García, the forward of the Colombian Soccer Team and Rayo Vallecano.

“I want to congratulate the Colombian basketball team and its historic victory against Brazil. Really impressive. Congratulations to the entire team,” were the words of the ‘Tiger’.

The second round of the tie will take place between August 25 and 29. The National Team will integrate Group B, which is completed by: Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United States. It should be noted that each squad will start this phase with the points achieved in the opening round.
