Puerto Portals has been providing the Rolex 52 Super Series Circuit with the quality that these sailors deserve both on land and in the water for seven years. Everyone wants to dock at the most important marina in the Mediterranean, not only because of the treatment given to the crews, but also because of the navigation conditions in the Bay of Palma.

The Puerto Portals Sailing Week 2022 has been a really good event, in which the planned ten sleeves have been disputed and in which each day the leader has been changed. The equality between the crews is evident in the dispute over the different heats, in which, depending on the intensity of the wind, a favorite can contribute, of course, later this does not mean that the favorite wins the heat in question. Provezza and Sled have had it in their hands, but only the regularity of the South African Proenix, with four first, three second, one third and only one eighth, have led Hasso Plattner’s men to prevail in Puerto Portals and, furthermore, , have become the new leaders of the circuit to the detriment of the Americans from the Quantum, who are two points ahead of them in the general classification.

Much hot

It has been an atypical week with a lot of heat and water at 29 gm, which has not allowed the intensity of the wind to exceed 10 knots until the last day, in which the prevailing 20 knots led to María Torrijo, the PRO of the Rolex 52 Super Series Circuit had to advance the start of the first race to 11 in the morning.

On Monday it seemed that the Americans of the Sled were going to renew the title they won in these same waters last year, but a disastrous navigation in the two races yesterday and Phoenix’s desire to win dashed all the hopes of the American team. Yesterday they sailed badly, very badly. They even did an offline in the second moto for going desperate. On the contrary, the South Africans did two almost perfect races to achieve the two seconds they needed to be the champions of the Puerto Portals Sailing Week.

Bad the Quantum

For their part, the up to now leaders of the Rolex 52 Super Series Circuit, the Americans of the Quantum have not known how to swim and put away their clothes and have justly snatched the leadership of the Circuit from them. The fourth place achieved in the Puerto Portals Sailing Week has allowed them to move up to second overall, two points behind the leader, Phoenix. Doug DeVos’s men missed his owner, who couldn’t be in Puerto Portals and the boat was taken by his tactician, Terry Hutchisson. De Vos will be happy!

The Turkish Provezza recovers somewhat in the general classification of the Rolex 52 Super Series Circuit, but the third place in Puerto Portals does not help them at all to subtract points and get out of the well of sixth place in which they are located at the moment.

best circuit in the world

The Rolex 52 Super Series Circuit is the world’s best cruise circuit. It has the best boats for the best sailors in the world to haggle over and, in addition, it carefully chooses the venues. This year 2022 it premiered in Bayona (Pontevedra), which was a total success and where it won the street Quantum over Platoon and Phoenix. A month later, the Roles 52 Super Series Championschip was held in Cascais (Portugal), which also won the Quantum, this time over Platoon and Alegre; in Puerto Portals we have already commented on the quality of the organization; In September, the fleet will participate in Scarlino (Italy), perhaps the most established venue on the circuit, and to round off the best circuit in the world, Barcelona, the venue for the 2024 America’s Cup, will set up its regatta field to pass judgment on the winner of the 2022 season.

Puerto Portals has fired the nine boats that make up the fleet, placing them in 2023, because this Rolex 52 Super Series circuit would not be what it is without the port run by Corinna Graf in the heart of Calviá.

Next year we will meet again in Puerto Portals.
