Puebla 2022 National Youth Tennis Tournament culminates successfully

The white sport of the ancient Angelopolis is the protagonist of National Tennis Tournament Puebla 2022by conquering three categories in under 10 years, 18 years and in doubles.

The national fair presented by Mexico Volkswagen also conquered the title of the best of the five national tournaments not only because it is played on world-class courts such as those of brittany zavaleta, University of the Americas Puebla (UDLAP), Gustavo Diaz Ordaz School Center, Alpha II y Christbut by the logistics in the organization.

In addition, the German company with a presence in Puebla, valued being the official presenter of the contest, which summoned the best exponents from different states of the Mexican Republic.

The tournament brought more than 30 million pesos to the economic dynamism of Puebla in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 2022 Puebla National Tennis Tournament also attracted the attention of 500 tennis players who arrived with their parents and with the illusion of taking the titles to their cities and states.

The boys Sofía Canto Hurtado beat Viviana López 6-0 and 6-3 and Fernando Alvarado beat Luka Romano 6-2 3-1 (retirement), in the 18-year-old category.

The new 10-year-old promises also raised their hands with Iker Barrionuevo, beating Karim Eduardo Balbuena Segura 4-1 and 4-0.

During the award ceremony, the President of the Poblana Tennis Association, Enrique Nunez Quirozvalued the combative spirit of each and every contender.

Also Vice President of the Mexican Tennis Federation (FMT)thanked everyone for the trust placed in the organizing committee, the judges, referees, sponsors, parents, the media and the youth.

He exhorted the participants to maintain their effort and dedication every day not only in training but in their schools.

Little Barrionuevo said he felt very happy, because he trained a lot and really wanted to go to this tournament.

“I like this sport a lot and I prepare harder every time; the match was difficult, but I was able to win”.

The second championship went to Fernando Alvarado in the 18-year-old category, against Romano, also from Puebla, whom he won by partials of 6-2, 3-1 and left due to injury.

“I feel happy with the result, I’m sorry that Iker felt bad and I hope he recovers soon, but I played well, solid with my forehand, a little uncomfortable with the backhand, which I have to improve, I kept myself at a constant level, without so many double faults and errors. It was a good tournament.”

The women had a transcendental participation with Sofía Canto Hurtado, by beating Viviana Gómez from Jalisco in a great match 6-0, 1-6 and 6-3.

“It’s a victory that I really enjoy because it was complicated, the first set I was very confident and I dominated it; In the second I got complicated, the good thing is that I closed the third well and managed to win, it wasn’t easy, but I prepared very well”.
