Positive balance for UNLaM at the start of FISU América basketball 3×3

3×3 basketball has long since earned a prominent place in the grid of sports activities. Confirmed as an Olympic competition since 2017, this urban discipline is gaining more and more followers. And, in Argentina, UNLaM has led this growth with very good teams, such as the one that debuted this Tuesday at the 4th FISU America, which takes place at the Sports Center of the San Ignacio de Loyola University (USIL) in Pachacámac, Lima, Peru. , with the illusion of qualifying for the World Cup to be played in Istanbul, Turkey, at the end of October.

And the balance on the first day of competition was positive for the university cast, since after the tight defeat in the debut against the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Studies – Toluca, from Mexico (19-20), they were able to recover and win comfortably against the National University Jorge Bassadre Grohman, from Peru (19-8), and against the University of Antofagasta, from Chile (21-4).

In this way, the team made up of UNLaM student-athletes Juan Cruz Martínez Sanz (24 years old, Bachelor of Kinesiology and Physiatry), Leandro Álvarez (24 years old, Bachelor of Physical Education), Matías Menéndez (23 years old, Physical Education Prof.) and David Morán (25 years old, Physical Education Prof.) were well positioned to advance to the second phase. To achieve this, they must be among the first four of their group (which has six members) and then cross paths with those who qualify in the other zone.

This Wednesday, the team from Matanzas will face Universidad Paulista (Brazil) and the University of Costa Rica.
