No one lowers Iga Swiatek from the leadership of women’s tennis | Other Sports | Sports

The Polish Iga Swiatek remained firm for another week at the head of the world ranking of women’s tennis (WTA) with 8,336 points, while the Spanish Paula Badosa and Garbiñe Muguruza remain within the ‘Top 10’, according to the ranking published this Monday by the organization.

Swiatek is well ahead of Estonian Anett Kontaveit (4,476), who lost last weekend in the final of the Hamburg tournament against American Bernarda Pera. The Greek Maria Sakkari (4,190) is still third.

The Spanish Paula Badosa also stayed one more week in fourth position with 4,030 points and her compatriot Garbiñe Muguruza settled in eighth position with 2,886 points.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia continues to be the best placed Latin American in 26th place, followed by the Colombian Camila Osorio who gave up two steps (from 65 to 67).

The also Spanish Sara Sorribes climbed four steps (37) to reach the semifinals of the Palermo tournament last week, where she was surpassed by the Romanian Irina Begu, who climbed 12 steps (33). (D)
