Nick Kyrgios’ engagement up in the air

It’s easy to get there, it’s hard to stay. This is a phrase that could perfectly describe the tennis career of Nick Kyrgios. The Australian has shown on several occasions what he can do on a tennis court, the last one in this Wimbledon 2022 in which he lost in the final against Novak Djokovic. On many occasions, Kyrgios has declared that his relationship with the racket sport is not the healthiest, a kind of love-hate relationship. In recent weeks the whole world has been able to enjoy a great show thanks to Nick, both in the purely tennis aspect, and everything that happens around the game, but will he be able to stay motivated?

Nick’s growth, a fact

Kyrgios already warned at a press conference for the final stretch of Wimbledon that his aspirations do not go through traveling all year, being away from his family and friends in Australia. Things will have to change a lot from one day to the next so that Nick doesn’t miss a week of competition. Aware that his maturity has a positive impact on the court, the Australian has the level to put the best in the world in trouble, although, sometimes, those mental battles that he wages on the court cost Kyrgios.

Against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Nick was the one who managed the Greek, but it is something that he cannot do against tennis players like Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal. In the end, those wars outside the points get out of hand for the Australian, although Kyrgios believes he can control them at all times.

“For Nick to commit would be incredibly positive for tennis

John McEnroe wants this commitment to happen, despite not being very sure about it, as tennishead collects: “We are all evaluating the chances that Kyrgios will commit to tennis now, but I have doubts that he will do it, although I would love. He is probably the most talented player that tennis has seen in the last decade and I like him as a person. He coached him in the Laver Cup four times. He’s a good kid, but he just has to commit to tennis.”

“We hope he decides that tennis is worth committing to for a couple of years. I don’t think it’s likely, but hopefully I’m wrong. I want to be wrong because Nick committing to tennis would be incredibly positive for our sport.” McEnroe.

Now comes the North American tour, in which he has achieved great results before. Wimbledon can serve as that push for Kyrgios to fight to stay in the highest positions in the ranking, in addition to fighting for the titles.
