Montpellier host city for Euro 2023 and the Olympic base camp of the Blues

The mayor of Montpellier Michaël Delafosse announced on Friday that the southern city would host the next European judo championships in 2023 as well as the base camp of the Blues for the Olympics.

The city of Montpellier will host the European Judo Championships in November 2023 and serve as a base camp for French judo in preparation for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, the city, region and federation announced on Friday.

“The European Championships will be held at the Sud de France Arena in Montpellier from November 2 to 5, 2023”said the mayor of Montpellier, Michaël Delafosse, on the sidelines of a visit to the Resource Center for Expertise and Sports Performance (Creps) in Montpellier, where the French judo team is currently on a training course.

In 2021, French judokas were the biggest providers of Tokyo Olympics medals for France, with eight podiums, including two titles.
