MWith Eric Washington, the MLP Academics Heidelberg have found a fresh playmaker for the new season in the basketball Bundesliga. According to the club, the American received a one-year contract on Thursday. Last season, Washington first played for the French second division club Aix Maurienne Savoie Basket before moving to the BBL club Niners Chemnitz in December.
“We wanted to hire a point guard who can create opportunities, especially in the transition, after blocks and from isolation,” said Heidelberg’s new coach Joonas Iisalo about the 29-year-old. “It was important to us that this player played defensively with commitment and passion. I think we’ve found just such a player in Eric.”
