Miguel Borja debuted with River Plate: prayer, applause and first goal option at the Monumental | Argentine League

Miguel Ángel Borja made his debut this Thursday, July 21, with River Plate’s ‘9’ jersey, in the 1-0 win over Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata in the 2022 Argentine Professional League.

The Colombian striker entered the game after 72 minutes, instead of Lucas Beltrán, and since he entered the field he stood out, as he had a previous ceremony before stepping on the pitch.

As a believing man, a prayer was the first thing Borja did in the Monumental stadium. After praying to God, he entered the field applauded by River’s fans.

Borja entered with great enthusiasm and tried to be dangerous in the rival area. Although also, wanting to contribute to the mark and aggressiveness to remove the ball, he had a strong tackle on Braian Alemán and, although many asked for a yellow card or expulsion, the Colombian came out of the play with flying colors, so he was not punished.

At the end, Miguel Borja had a goal option, which was saved by the Gimnasia goalkeeper. The coffee grower did not score, but he showed that he will be a danger for the rivals, and that he can be the scorer that coach Marcelo Gallardo wants so much.
