VARESE – Varese basketball e Strength and Faith they say yes. After long, very long negotiations, the two historic companies celebrated the expected marriage. Many changes are announced to face the challenges of the future in a five-year coursewhich aims to make Varese an avant-garde pole of Italian basketball.
Joint mini-basketball, Serie B with the Campus
There are many substantial news of the agreement, which will presumably be illustrated on Monday 18 after Luis Scola’s return from the Summer League in Las Vegas. Varese basketball e Strength and Faith (in the photo Gianluca Bertoni) will remain two separate entities, albeit closely connected, with the “container” Campus (in the last season relegated from the C Silver to the D series) which will exchange the senior series of belonging with the Robur: therefore the Campus in B as an authentic farm team and Robur in D, at least initially. Because? Because management would have been more complex with one sports club like Robur et Fides, while, in the intentions of Luis Scola, Serie B will basically be a super group with the under 19s (and the reinforcement of a few seniors). The minibasketball will have joint management and the name of both companies on the jersey.
The recruitment of young players and the opening of the guesthouse
The intentions of Varese Basketball are to recruit on a national and, in an international perspective, the best prospects to train and launch in Italian and European basketball. In the five-year project there are two sine qua non conditions. The opening of a guesthouse for the accommodation of young players and the signing of a player development coachwhich will be American.
The youth formations
They will remain strictly pertinent to Robur the low bandswhich has always been a “house specialty” of the company in via Marzorati and all formations B and C of any category. Instead, they will wear the Varese Basketball jersey under 15the under 17 they under 19the latter also engaged in serie B with the Campus brand and closely managed by the red and white association.
A five-year project with innovative potential
Leading interpreters describe it as a top project in Italyable to give quality and quantity perspectives for Varese basketball: to train excellent players, but also to guarantee everyone the opportunity to play basketball, regardless of individual qualities.
