Does ManCity coach Pep Guardiola (51) have a dream player in Leipzig?
As the Spanish “Marca” reports, Pep would like to bring RB Leipzig’s central defender Josko Gvardiol (20) to Manchester – preferably as a replacement for Nathan Aké (27), who is about to move to Chelsea.
Accordingly, Guardiola has had his “namesake” – Gvardiol is called “Little Pep” – in his sights for a long time. The Croatian is considered one of the greatest defender talents in Europe.
RB’s ex-sports director Markus Krösche (41), who signed the central defender in 2021 for 18.8 million euros from Gvardiol’s youth club Dinamo Zagreb, once said: “We have committed one of the greatest defensive talents in Europe.”

Gvardiol himself impressively confirmed the early praise in his first season. In the last Bundesliga season, the super talent played 29 games for RB – and thus played the most minutes (2,413) in the entire league as a player under 21 years of age. And at 34.6 km/h, the Croatian is even one of the fastest defenders in the league.
In addition, “Little Pep”, who won the cup with Leipzig last season and also played for Croatia at the European Championship, is one of the most reliable defenders (165 successful passes) in the Bundesliga. No wonder Gvardiol is now on the wish lists of the big clubs!
However: A transfer is currently out of the question, Leipzig has no interest in selling the young Croatian. Unless Man City would come around the corner with a moon total…
Then: Not only Leipzig is very satisfied with the Croatian, Gvardiol also feels very comfortable in Leipzig. The Croatian recently told BILD: “I really enjoy every day with this great team in this first-class club. I think of nothing else! And if you ask me if I’ll be playing here next year: Yes, of course!”
The Croatian is currently suffering from a thigh surgery from the beginning of June. As a result, the defensive star missed the Nations League games with Croatia in the summer and was unable to prepare for the start of the season as usual.

It is quite possible that Pep and ManCity will have to wait a long time for a transfer because of this…
