The 35-year-old walked through the city armed with a baseball bat. First he found his first victim on Dachauer Strasse, a 54-year-old from the Dachau district. “The perpetrator suddenly hit the completely unknown person in the face with the aluminum bat,” said the police. The man sustained a wound on his temple that required hospital treatment.
Later, the perpetrator met a 21-year-old from Fürstenfeldbrueck on Hauptstrasse, who he also didn’t know, and hit him on the back of the head with a baseball bat. The young man was also taken to the hospital.
The perpetrator was arrested shortly afterwards by forces of the police squad from Fürstenfeldbruck. “The background to the act is likely to have been a mental illness on the part of the perpetrator, coupled with previous alcohol and drug consumption,” the police said. The man was “compulsorily placed in a psychiatric clinic after the police measures had been completed”. (pm)
