According to Deadline, the new series Madame is served found a new home. The project, which brings together original series stars Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano and is produced by Norman Lear, has landed on Amazon Freevee for development…

The sequel is written and executive produced by Mike Royce, co-creator, executive producer and co-showrunner of One Day at a Time, and Brigitte Muoz-Liebowitz, co-executive producer. Sony Pictures Television, which owns the rights to the original series and has been working on the sequel for two years, is the studio.

Danza and Milano will reprise their roles as Tony and Samantha Micelli. Set 30 years after the events of the original series, the sequel will focus on Tony Micelli (Danza), former Major League Baseball player and retired housekeeper, and his relationship with his daughter Samantha (Milano). This is now a single mother, who lives in the family home. In line with classic Lear series, the new comedy will explore generational differences, as well as opposing worldviews and parenting styles within the dynamics of a modern family in 2022.

The original series Madame is served aired for eight seasons and 196 episodes on ABC from 1984-1992 and drew over 30 million viewers in its heyday. She has been nominated for 10 Emmy Awards. Although Lear was not involved in the creation of Madame is servedthe series is part of the extensive library of its Embassy Communications banner, which is now owned by Sony Pictures TV.

Lear and his producing partner Brent Miller of Act III Productions as well as Dan Farah of Farah Films are the executive producers of this sequel alongside Danza, Milano, Royce and Muoz-Liebowitz.

Amazon Freevee is an American, Amazon-owned, ad-supported video-on-demand streaming service with original and licensed programming. The service launched in January 2019 as IMDb Freedive, before becoming IMDb TV five months later. The service became Amazon Freevee just a few weeks ago.
