Live Updates as Zach Lavine and Bulls Agree on Max Deal; Knicks, Celtics take steps

The NBA’s free agency is moving fast after beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. ET, when teams can begin negotiating contracts with players. However, the contracts will not become official until the moratorium is lifted on July 6th. Hours before free agency officially begins, Kevin Durant asked to trade away from the Brooklyn networks. One of the NBA’s biggest stars is now set to switch teams this summer, and the KD trade order will no doubt impact how teams conduct their opportunistic trades.

Zach LaVine (Bulls) and Bradley Beal (Wizards) have agreed on maximum deals to return to their teams. Among other things, the Knicks agreed on an early deal with Galen Bronson. Eastern Conference champions the Celtics also improved after pulling out of a deal to land Pacers guard Malcolm Brugdon and Danilo Gallinari will also sign. The NBA has reportedly informed teams that next season’s salary cap is expected to be set at $123.6 million, up $11.6 million from last year’s $112 million.
