Leyre Fernández wins the gold of the Mediterranean Games in Oran (Algeria)

Leyre Fernández from Huelva has added a new success to her list of winners and has been proclaimed champion of archery in the Mediterranean Games that are being played in Oran (Algeria).

The girl from the Assyrian Club In the final, she beat the Italian Lucila Bouari, a bronze medalist at the last Tokyo Olympics., in a high level final. The goalkeeper from Huelva thus completed a great tournament; in the final, marked by the wind, she knew how to read the weather conditions at all times and she confirmed the great moment she is going through by obtaining the gold medal.



Leyre had just proclaimed herself runner-up in the World Cup held in Paris (where she again broke the Spanish record for mixed teams together with Galician Miguel Alvariño) and was 9th in the European Championship held in Germany.

Leyre’s gold in these Mediterranean Games adds to that achieved by Álvaro Robles in table tennis and Pablo Abián (volantista de Recre IES La Orden) in the individual badminton.
