Leonel Álvarez confirms that the Bolivian National Team sought him out to train in the South American Qualifiers | Colombians Abroad

Leonel Álvarez is one of the Colombian coaches who are recognized in many parts of the world, because in his time as a former soccer player he played two World Cups with the National Team and was champion of the Copa Libertadores with Atlético Nacional; In addition, as a club coach he has three titles in Colombia and one in Paraguay.

Álvarez, 57, also had a short stint as Colombia coach, in which he led four games in the 2014 Brazil Qualifiers.

That is why the Bolivian Football Federation took notice of Leonel, and added him to a list of candidates to be the coach of the Bolivian team, ahead of the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Leonel confirmed the call of the Bolivian Federation in ‘El Alargue’, by Caracol Radio. In addition, he told the response and the thought that he has as a coach, before that offer.

“Where I have been I have been very respectful of respecting contracts, there is no clause, but there is a contract that is respected by both parties, but all this good news is received in a good way, I value and respect where I am at this moment and I am very happy”, assured Álvarez.
