The ASU2022 Games, the biggest party in the country’s sports history, is just around the corner. Two months away from its celebration, excitement and expectations surround Paraguayan athletes, volunteers and the medical team who leave their feelings for what will be this great event that will bring together several countries of the continent and that will mark a before and after in sport. at the country level with unique scenarios as an invaluable legacy.

Paraguay will host the XII South American Games, called ASU2022, the sporting event that will bring together more than 7,000 athletes, coaches and technical officials. 34 sports and 53 different modalities will be played, classified as: aquatic, registration and branding, competitive art, combat and group, to which chess is added as an exhibition sport.

“It is a true honor and I want my country to shine,” said Federico Recalde, ASU2022 sports volunteer.

From October 1 to 15, Paraguay will experience historic moments for national sport, in which 15 Odesur member countries will participate: Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Curaçao, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela. A flow of more than 20,000 people is expected in the different venues where the event will take place.

“Dani” Vallejo, representative athlete of the national tennis and South American medalist, expressed that all the athletes are excited since it will be an event where they will be able to mark a before and after in the country’s sports history. “We are training to represent Paraguay in the best way. I hope that people come to support and give their greatest strength because it is something very beautiful to represent the country, ”he indicated.

Physiotherapist Laura Perrota stated that for her it means passion, emotion and, above all, commitment. She stressed that the team’s accompaniment is day by day with the athletes. The professional said that she attends athletes daily and that there are 400 athletes per month from all disciplines who take care of themselves so as not to have injuries during practices. “It’s giving me goosebumps just imagining what that day will be like with them,” said the professional.

Physiotherapist Laura Perrota expressed that for her ASU2022 means passion, excitement and, above all, commitment.

For his part, Alan Osorio, from the volunteer team of the South American Games in Asunción, pointed out that his goal is to install and promote the culture of sports volunteering. “We are going to stay with a swollen heart, with a sense of belonging, with a sense of patriotism. We want to live this experience now and show all Paraguayans who may not have been able to live experiences like this, that it can be done”, highlighted the young man who does not hide his emotion and the joy of having the privilege of living this continental celebration from the front row. .

In turn, Federico Recalde, also a volunteer of ASU2022, meant that the event is something sincerely wonderful: “Giving all my effort so that this comes out ahead, in the best possible way, is a commitment and, for me, personally, it is a true honor. I want my country to shine, that is my main objective”, he emphasized.

Alan Osorio pointed out that these Games will be an excellent opportunity to promote the culture of sports volunteering.
