Julia Zorn in an interview: “Some things you have to breathe away” – Sport

Captain Julia Zorn has resigned from the national ice hockey team after 14 years. A conversation about fulfilled dreams, games in front of 40 spectators – and their struggles for the appreciation of their sport.

Julia Zorn has always led the way on the ice. The striker, who was born in Gräfelfing in the Munich district, played ice hockey for Germany for 14 years and captained the national team for seven years. During this time she was never at a loss for a frank word. Zorn, 32, has now resigned from the DEB team after 244 international matches. The attacker, who started out as a goalkeeper and became German champion eight times with ESC Planegg, wanted to decide for herself when it was over for her.
