Two in one go. The Sporting yesterday made official the signings of Uruguayan midfielder Gio Zarfino (Montevideo, Uruguay, 8-10-1991) and Colombian winger Juan Otero (Chocó, Colombia, 5-26-1995). The two posed with the red and white scarf after passing the medical examination and signing their new contracts. Today they will take part in the first training session of the preseason, in Mareo, starting at 10:30 am. “An aspiration of a big team is to always be at the top and I come to a big team,” stressed the Uruguayan. “I am very excited about this challenge,” said the coffee grower.
“Very happy. I’m very excited to be at this great club. It’s a very nice opportunity,” underlines Juan Otero. The Colombian arrives on loan from América de México, in an operation carried out by LA NUEVA ESPAÑA. The club reserves a purchase option at the end of the season. The Colombian is an old acquaintance of the Orlegi Group, with whom he coincided during his time as a Santos Laguna player, where he offered the best version of himself. “I did things very well with them at Santos. Now, at Sporting, excited to start the same way”, he explained. “I think I can contribute a lot. I’m a very fast player, who helps both offensively and defensively. I’m going to try to give my best,” he stressed.
Gio Zarfino arrives with the same enthusiasm, arriving free after ending his contract with Alcorcón. The duration of his contract is for two seasons, as LA NUEVA ESPAÑA reported. “I am very happy to arrive at Sporting. Looking forward to being able to train with my teammates and put myself under the orders of the coach,” said the Uruguayan, who in his case will not occupy a place as a foreigner as he has a community passport. “Now to start the preseason from scratch. It’s been a long time since I’ve had this opportunity and I’m very happy about it. Personally, my goal is to play as many games as possible. Get my best performance. We hope the best for me It’s the best for everyone. Hopefully we can help each other together, which is the main thing on a day-to-day basis,” he confessed.
Both Juan Otero and Gio Zarfino visited the Mareo facilities yesterday to sign their contracts, and have already had the opportunity to chat with Abelardo. “Work will not be lacking, dedication on a day-to-day basis. It is what characterizes me as a person. I will try to give everything of myself to be the best for the club”, assures the former Alcorcón player, who will raise the competition in a midfield town. “I am a footballer who leaves everything in the games. I never keep anything to myself. I always go to the front. I will try to do it every game and do what is best for Sporting”, concludes Zarfino.
Bogdan breaks ties to go to Portugal
Bogdan has agreed with Sporting his separation. The Ukrainian right-back was not part of Abelardo’s plans and he was the first of the discarded players to reach an agreement for his departure, announced yesterday by the ‘rojiblanco’ club. The player had two more years on his contract that he will not fulfill. In his place, Sporting will communicate in the next few hours the arrival of Pol Valentín, also right-back, who arrives free after ending his relationship with Fuenlabrada. Bogdan will continue with his career at Arouca, of the First of Portugal. The rojiblanco team saves a percentage on a future sale of the player. Bogdan arrived at Sporting B in the summer of 2018 and has made 65 appearances for the first team.
