HSV – Rostock 0: 1: special jersey! minute of silence! And a very bitter bankruptcy | Sports

HSV bankruptcy in the first game after the death of club legend Uwe Seeler († 85).

Before the north derby against Hansa Rostock (0:1) there are really big emotions. An entire club says goodbye with a special jersey, a minute’s silence and goose bumps from the club’s management and fan scene. But after the kick-off, the players just can’t find their way on this big HSV day.

And very late there is also the goal from ex-Werder player Kevin Schumacher (24/90.+4).

At HSV there was nothing going forward at first, then luck at the back – the Rothosen only woke up shortly before the break with a double chance from Kittel (38th and 39th minutes). But Rostock has the best chance for a long time: Ingelsson volleys with a long leg, but HSV keeper Heuer Fernandes scrapes the ball away from under the bar with a brilliant save (65′).

HSV tried hard overall, but with a full house (among the more than 50,000 spectators there were also 6,000 from Rostock), they couldn’t really get through. Top chances in short supply! Glatzel has the best one with the Seeler number 9 on his back. But Hansa keeper Kolke defused the direct volley from 5 meters (84th). And somehow no help comes from above either…

Then added time (8 minutes due to Vuskovic/HSV’s injury break): Suddenly Schumacher, who was trained at HSV rivals Werder Bremen, is free on the left in front of Heuer Fernandes and hits the thing flat at the far post (90+4).

The winning goal scorer shortly afterwards on Sky: “At first I couldn’t believe it. I still have goosebumps.”

So in the end it will be bankruptcy for Uwe. But an afternoon with many unforgettable memories.

HSV captain Sebastian Schonlau: “It’s nice how the whole stadium, everyone in Hamburg and the whole of football Germany paid homage to Uwe Seeler. It shows what a great athlete and great person he was. It was the first game without him, but the result has less to do with it.”
