In recent weeks, former legendary goalie Dominik Hašek appealed to the government to pass a law prohibiting Czechs from working in Russia, namely when two Czech hockey players announced their return to the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Now he leaned sharply against the Czech representative striker Dmitri Yaškin, who is following them, he decided to strengthen St. Petersburg, calling it “support for the war”.

Czech national team forward Dmitrij Jaškin is returning to the Kontinental Hockey League after a season spent in the NHL. The 29-year-old native of Omsk signed a one-year contract with St. Petersburg, who acquired his rights from Dynamo Moscow.

After defender Libor Šulák and forward Rudolf Červen, Jaškin is the third Czech hockey player who, despite the Russian invasion of Ukraine, decided to return to the KHL, which most foreign players have already left. Šulák has a valid contract in Vladivostok, where, according to the press, Červený should also play, but his arrival has not yet been officially confirmed. Fullback Michal Jordán is contractually bound in Khabarovsk.

Dominik Hašek has a hard time bearing their decision, according to him, Jaškin also joined the supporters of the war in Ukraine. “I’m very sorry. The work of a Czech citizen in the Russian Federation is support for the Russian regime, the war in Ukraine, and therefore a danger to our country and its citizens. However, I don’t blame the boy or his agent, but the government and the Parliament of the Czech Republic for not having adopted a law that prohibits this,” he commented on Jaškin’s decision on social networks.

“The work of a Czech citizen in Russia. This is supporting Russia’s war and killing in Ukraine. Very similar to working for the Russian army (twenty years in prison). It is the duty of the government of the Czech Republic to protect us from this behavior. Our lives are at stake! Don’t stick your head in the sand!!!” he commented the journey of the Czech national team member Červený to the KHL Dominik Hašek was similar earlier on the social network.

He then added that it is the government’s duty to protect us from this dangerous behavior by issuing a law. “It’s about our lives, even if many of us may not realize it yet,” remarked Hašek.
