The Heidenheim Heideköpfe won the top game on Friday evening against the table leader from Regensburg by a narrow margin of 3:2. A walk-off single by Mitch Franke in the ninth inning settled the heathheads. Shawn Larry had equalized shortly beforehand with an RBI single.

The match in Heidenheim’s HellensteinEnergie Ballpark was initially determined by the two starting pitchers Christina Pedrol for Regensburg and Heidenheim’s Logan Grigsby. It was only a SacFly by Marcel Mariette in the third inning that gave the Legionnaires their first run. After a sacrifice by Janssen Drew an inning later, Simon Liedke was able to equalize for the hosts. Pascal Amon, however, put the guests from the Upper Palatinate in front again just one round later with a solo home run.

The relief pitchers used on both sides then ensured that the game remained exciting before Mitch Franke scored the decisive hit in the ninth inning. The win was secured by Simon Liedke, who took over for the heath heads in the ninth inning on the mound. Before him, Luca Hörger and after him Andres Perez Padilla paralyzed the legionnaires’ offensive. Sven Schüller conceded the bitter loss for the guests.
