He was also entertaining with his performance in the cage, moreover, he won before the limit when he defeated Tomáš Fiala by TKO in the third round. Their third fight against each other kept the crowd entertained on Saturday night.
He squared off with Fiala for the third time. He managed to beat him for the first time among amateurs, then also in 2017 at XFN 6. But a twist came. The opponent and his team appealed against the result and the commission upheld them. The green field of the winner suddenly turned gray, this match ended without a result.
“I have nothing against Tomáš at all. He is a fair and experienced fighter. I think he does MMA for the same reason as me, he just likes to fight,” said Široký, who won on Saturday night, before the fight. When Fiala appeared at the press conference afterwards, he looked like he had been hit hard. Although he was smaller in height, he was tough, and he also managed to entertain the fans. He claimed the win for that. A perfect evening.
“It’s not even a relief, I didn’t have those matches in my head before, that now it seems to have been erased. Now no one will doubt, it has become clear. Today was a controlled match under my direction, I tried to solve the situations that arose. I thought thought that it could turn out like this, this is how I visualized it, it was according to our scenario,” Široký was satisfied.
If fans will remember one moment from Saturday’s fight, it will be the special takedown. Široký took Fiala on his shoulder. It was enough to encourage fans to pay attention. Then he threw his rival on the floor of the cage. But this attempt did not go well.
“It occurred to me this morning, when I was running on the treadmill, that I would remind Fiji of our match at XFN, when I also walked with him like this in České Budějovice. It flashed in my mind, such a memory of the past. But I fell on my head, but I fell on the head several times,” Široký smiled. “I overdid it, I overturned it. “This is a great place to fight. Kind of a throwback to Pankration. It might not seem like it, but if you’re fighting in some smaller sold-out hall, it’s stuffy and they’ll throw smoke and fog at you, so it’s not exactly the best place to would you like to fight someone. Štvanice is about something else entirely,” said Široký. The last duel only confirmed it. Everyone had fun.
