Gus Presa, from Ceuta, silver medalist in the European Basketball Championship…

Gus Presa, from Ceuta who lives in Seville, has been proclaimed runner-up in the XI FIMBA European Maxibasket Championship (M+50 category) that took place in Malaga from June 24 to July 3 and in which he was one of the members of the Sevillian CD Gines. Presa learned to play basketball at Colegio Lope de Vega and UA Ceutí, and was also part of the Ceuta team.

The FIMBA European Maxi Basketball Championship is an Open for veterans and its participation is open to non-European teams competing for the ‘Rest of the World’ classification. 2,700 players have participated, 183 teams from all over the continent.

The CD Gines +50 has been a team formed for the occasion and that had already been tested in the recent tournament called ‘Over 40’ (organized by the company Give and Go Sport, on April 2 and 3 in Seville), where it obtained victory, winning all their matches by quite a bit.

The second Spanish team was formed by Unicaja de Málaga, with some former ACB players in their ranks, such as Jesús Lázaro or Jesús Peña.

The set of CD Ginés began his journey losing by the minimum against Germany, but he knew how to recover against the Austrian team and continue with options. Once that step had been achieved, they gradually overcame obstacles until they reached the grand final against the Italian team, a group with higher performance and a larger budget, which they were nevertheless able to compete with until the end, winning the silver medal.
